Nothing to do…   no comments

Don’t you hate it when your bosses think you don’t ever do anything? If you are a system/network administrator you probably know how this feels. Well, my bosses are straight up assholes. Every time they pass you through out the day they always have some smart ass comment about how I never do any work. They don’t ever think about the nights I spend at the office while they are chilling out at home. Those servers don’t upgrade themselves. They don’t ever think about how they’re able to check their email and surf the internet at break time. The way I see it is if I have nothing to do that means I have every thing on lock. If I’m getting my hustle on that means something must be fucked up. I also hate how all my research online to better our system always gets referred to as “screwing around on the internet”. I try to do the best I can to better the network and it never gets seen. I’m not looking for a pat on the back or anything. I just don’t want to hear some smart ass comment when I’m walking through the fuckin’ hall. I don’t need it. I make sure everything is always backed up, bandwidth is optimized, and all my users are protected. I’m always able to fix your busted ass machine whenever you fuck it up. I always act polite, and never take out my anger on my users. I give advice to help people with their home computers. I have even worked on some peoples personal computers on my time. What the fuck else do these people want? I don’t ever see anyone in the office at 2am on a weekend. Most times I don’t even take comp time. I treat the system like it was my damn child, and I have to hear some asshole’s “your always fucking off” comments.

Next time you think about giving your company IT geek some bullshit “you need something to do?” comment think about who takes care of your information. Who comes in on their days off to take care of outages. Who spends nights at the office to perform upgrades. Who backs up all the company’s vital information. Who makes sure your able to talk to the world. Who comes to the rescue when your computer is acting up.
